Dear Faculty, Staff, and Families,
I am writing to provide you with an update on Loyola’s distance learning plans in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In line with the Ministry of Education’s guidelines for public schools, we feel it best to conduct all school activities remotely going forward. Therefore, no students or parents are permitted to enter the school building. Faculty are aware that students will not have their materials, however, and are planning instruction accordingly, not to worry. All faculty professional development and communication is to be conducted online as well, as no group meetings are permitted at Loyola for the foreseeable future.
Nevertheless, we insist on maintaining the spirit of community and a culture of collegiality of our beloved Loyola in these unusual times! To this end, I ask that you make a point of checking in to our Loyola Distance Learning Community (DLC) Moodle page every weekday morning to access Morning Prayer, the Daily Bulletin and other items. As at school, please feel free to send me prayer intentions and suggestions, in French and English. Bulletin announcements should be posted in the same way as we always have, so that they remain visible on our website. Faculty and staff should still compose these announcements in ESS as usual. Other notices that pertain to the entire school community may also be posted there.
We can take comfort in the fact that we all share a learning curve with distance learning. Let’s make every attempt to maintain a positive and caring tone, and to be patient with one another, as we embark on this journey. Ms. Beland and Dr. Diachyshyn will be communicating more specific guidelines shortly.
I thank you all for your teamwork and openness to learning at this time. May God bless you and your family always.
Tom Malone, Principal
