Daily Events

  • Ed Meagher Sports Tournament Tickets
  • All students should have received their Ed Meagher Sports tournament tickets at this point. All cheques or returned tickets must be brought to the main office by Friday. Should any Secondary Two student who did not get their envelope containing tickets to the Ed Meagher Sports Tournament are to see Ms. Beland today to collect their envelope. These were handed out at Monday's Level Assembly.
  • Ed Meagher Tournament
  • Friday morning marks the opening of the Ed Meagher Sports Tournament and all students are expected to be present for the opening ceremonies. Classes will finish at the end of period 3 and all students will be escorted by their teachers to the arena. You will be allowed to go to the locker room to get your jackets and any Loyola gear to wear during the ceremony. Once you arrive at the arena, you are to sit with your homeroom and attendance will be taken again. As a reminder, respectful behaviour is expected during the opening ceremonies as we honour those who have helped grow this great tradition.
  • Student Contest
  • All classes are now officially entered into the Opening Ceremony shooting contest. Class reps will be called out of the stands by Mr. Randy Burns near the end of the ceremony, immediately after the presentation of the Ed Meagher Scholarship. Shooters are to meet with Mr. Burke at the Loyola players' bench . He will help you line up in order from classes 1A to 5F. If your costume has not been approved, you must see Mr. Burke at the gym on Friday morning before class. May the most accurate shooter win - not only a half day holiday for his class, but a highly coveted and authentic Connor McDavid autographed jersey. Good luck to all.
  • Ed Meagher Attendance Takers
  • There are still many homeroom attendance lists that have not been picked up from Mrs. Di Iorio. Class presidents must ensure that all designated attendance takers have picked up their list by lunchtime today.
  • The Loyola News
  • There is a new page at news.loyola.ca dedicated to the 50th Loyola-Ed Meagher Sports Tournament. The page features different aspects of the tournament, including its history, interviews, game schedules and, coming soon, spotlights on athletes and those who work behind the scenes.
  • Atrium closed
  • The Atrium will be closed today at 12:30 p.m. in order to set up for tonight's Ed Meagher sports tournament event.
  • Cafeteria Closed
  • On Friday, the cafeteria will be closed after break. You will not be able to purchase lunch from the cafeteria but the canteen will be open in the gym and at Concordia arena.
  • Attention Class Presidents
  • You will receive a Google Form very shortly. We have listed all the possible Carnival Week activities that that been suggested by the student body and now you can vote for your favourites. Please read the instructions carefully.
  • Peinture, Sec.1
  • Mme Desrosiers invite les élèves de secondaire 1 à terminer leur bouquet de fleurs, mercredi midi, dans la classe d'arts. Vous pouvez apporter votre lunch.
  • Music Fridays
  • Music Fridays makes its return. There is a spot available on January 31st. If you would like to perform in the Atrium at Lunchtime on that day, please email Mr. Proietti.
  • 5E's Extravaganza!
  • Loyola Debating Club
  • Sign-up for the Loyola Debating Club will be held next Monday, January 27th at the beginning of lunchtime in room 216. New and returning members are welcome. If you want to put your debating skills to the test, this is the place to be. If you’re interested but cannot attend the meeting on Monday, please contact Mr. E. Hein ASAP.

Sports Announcements

  • Secondary 1 Inter-Class
  • In Secondary 1 Inter-Class basketball action today has 1A vs 1E. Students are asked to meet in the gym ready to go at 12:15 p.m.
  • Ed Meagher Sports Tournament
  • Juvenile hockey action starts today. Our Juvenile Division 2 team plays LCC at 1:00 p.m. and our Division 1 team is in action at 4:00 p.m. vs Regina Assumpta.
  • Pee Wee 2 Hockey
  • The Scouts played a spirited first game against John Rennie to begin their run in the Ed Meagher Sports Tournament. The fast paced game went end-to-end with non-stop action. The Scouts played with grit and determination matching John Rennie's offensive attacks pound for pound. Unfortunately, the team succumbed to an overtime goal by John Rennie, losing 4-3. Despite the loss, the coaches are extremely proud of the passionate performance had by each Scout. Next up for the team, LCC tomorrow at 8 a.m. As always, fans are welcome. Go Scouts.
  • Morning Basketball
  • Reminder to all morning basketball players. Tomorrow there is a special sports tournament edition of morning basketball starting at at 6:45 a.m. Hopefully you can make it.
  • Table Tennis
  • The longest winning streak in LTTC history came to an end yesterday in the final of the St. Vincent Open when Justin Néemeh defeated Charles Garofalo 2-0. Garofalo's historic run of seven straight tournament victories ended before a wild capacity crowd in the Bishops' Atrium. This was Néemeh's first championship victory.
