Arts
Our whole person programming sees the arts as an integral way for students to express their creativity, find joy in creation and engage life in a way that allows them to look beyond frontiers and boundaries.
Arts are part of the core programming, but also available as optional courses, clubs and events that allow every student to engage in the creative arts through visual, audio, performative or other methods.
Visual arts
Show your creativity
Students learn the skill of observational drawing, from still life to portraits, landscapes, gesture drawing, negative space and sighting, learn to manipulate image and colour and work in different media. The Art program evolves with the student’s creative growth, offering opportunities for independent studio work and learning art history. Annual events such as the Festival of the Arts and Art Battles allow students to showcase their creations.
Music
Joy in performing
Our music program allows all students to learn how to read music and grow into expressing their instrumental talents through core course offerings, options classes and extracurriculars such as jazz and concert bands. Vocal talents can choose choir or take part in talent clubs. Loyola faculty and students host concerts to showcase the musical talents of our community: Christmas and Spring concerts, Talent Nights and other opportunities to flood to the halls of the school with music.
Drama
Set the stage
Loyola’s obligatory speech classes teach self-confidence, projection and effective speaking. Through optional theater arts courses and extracurriculars that allow students to engage in stand-up comedy, speech competitions or acting in major productions, as well as school trips to local theaters or Stratford, the Loyola student has ample opportunity to engage in the dramatic arts.
Digital Media
21st century expressions
From stop-motion animation projects to sound design to film production and editing or digital media arts, Loyola offers students opportunities through both options and extracurriculars to create digital media. Our Clubs Room includes editing suites, a green screen and equipment that students can borrow for productions.
Written & Spoken Word
The pen is mightier
Both the English and French Language Arts programs foster excellence in writing ability, allowing students to practice fictional, journalistic or poetic expressions in written form. Extracurriculars like the Poetry and Songwriting club, the Loyola News student newspaper and Venture Magazine showcase the written word. Extracurriculars like Debating and Model UN allow students to display the skills they honed in Speech classes.

Ignatian Awards
The Ignatian Awards evening recognizes the talents and passions of students’ creations or artistic participations through student film, drama productions, musical numbers, visual arts showcases and the written and spoken word throughout the year.
