This November, Loyola proudly celebrated its 16th annual participation in Movember, a campaign dedicated to raising awareness and funds to change the face of men’s health. This initiative focuses on critical issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.

Loyola demonstrated its unwavering commitment to a cause close to home. In addition to encouraging senior students and male staff to grow a moustache throughout November, Mr. T and several other dedicated staff members came up with creative ways to engage the entire school. One standout initiative was Mr. Paolino’s ‘06 first-ever “Fund-Razor,” where students, staff and faculty bought raffle tickets for the chance to shave Mr. Paolino’s hair. All proceeds from the event will go to the Montreal General Hospital’s Urology Department.

The atmosphere during the Fund-Razor was electric! The Bishops' Atrium buzzed with excitement as the raffle winners took turns snipping away, guided by William '26's hair expertise. Even Mr. Dagher joined in the fun, adding to the anticipation with every clip. This spirited event raised an impressive $1,200, supporting advancements in urological health at the hospital.

Movember at Loyola was a month-long celebration of community, participation and philanthropy. Students and staff embraced numerous opportunities to contribute, a Free Dress Day and a special assembly for senior students. The assembly featured guest speaker Eric Feliciano from The Hadley Community, who delivered a powerful and inspiring message about mental health.

Additional initiatives, such as Movember-themed apparel sales and a hotdog fundraiser, brought the school together and raised $2,000 for The Hadley Community. This non-profit organization provides critical support to individuals facing challenges like mental illness, addiction, homelessness, and food insecurity.

As the month wrapped up, Loyola proudly announced a record-breaking achievement: a total of $8,000 raised during the campaign, the highest amount in the school’s Movember history!

Our Movember campaign leader Mr. T expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to this year’s effort. Although Movember has officially ended, donations are still welcome on Loyola’s Mo page: https://ca.movember.com/team/2234048.

Thank you, Loyola, for making this Movember one to remember. Until next year - Mo on Loyola, Mo on!
