Loyola Choir's impressive 2022-23 season

September 8, 2022

It is with great pleasure that PUERI CANTORES CANADA held its very first Little Singers Week, from August 14 to 20, 2022. 35 choristers from six different choirs of the Canadian Federation participated: The Loyola Choir (Montreal), Les Petits chanteurs du Mont-Royal (Montreal), Les Petits chanteurs de Beauport (Quebec), Les Petits chanteurs de Granby, La Maitrise du Cap-de-la-Madeleine and St-Michael's Choir School (Toronto).

A team of volunteers from the Federation of Pueri Cantores Canada realized this first edition in collaboration with the staff of the Camp musical du Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, in Metabetchouan.

In addition to discovering, exploring and performing, this stay allowed us to share many cultural and social experiences in a most enchanting environment of the region. Many pictures and sound clips on our Facebook page: FB Pueri Cantores Canada.

This magnificent week ended with a concert with a string orchestra conducted by Marthe Lacasse and Louise Marie Pelletier during the Rendez-vous musical in Laterrière, on Saturday August 20.

Six of our chorister who participated in this choral camp have honored our school, distinguishing themselves by their friendliness, their openness to others, their discipline and the quality of their singing. Loyola studente Nathaniel '26 was awarded the Pueri Cantores Camp Medal; Nathaniel demonstrated his musicianship and dedication throughout his stay, a model for all - a young man for others!
It is also interesting to note that Kaelan Olney '19, a Loyola Choir alumnus and its first president, has joined the leadership team as a monitor and singer in the tenor section.

In anticipation of the next Choral Camp in the summer of 2024, the Loyola Choir is now preparing for the next International Pueri Cantores Congress in Rome in late December 23-January 24, when it will join choristers from around the world to sing at the Papal New Year's Mass, among other events.
