On November 26, 2025, the Board of Governors convened to review Loyola High School’s long-term strategic considerations in light of Bill 9 and its potential implications for private education in Quebec.

To support this work, the Board has established a Strategic Assessment and Planning Committee tasked with overseeing a comprehensive feasibility review.

The committee is composed of six representatives from the Board, school leadership, and the broader Loyola community, including:

• Father Matthew Hendzel, S.J., President of the Loyola High School Board of Directors
• Patrick Shea ’90, Chair of the Loyola High School Board of Governors
• Fouad Maroun, President of Loyola High School
• Scott Corbett, Vice-President of Advancement, Loyola High School
• Anthony Broccolini ’99, Current parent and current Director of the Loyola High School Foundation
• Wendy Polverari, Vice-Principal of Senior School and former head of the Teachers’ Association, Loyola High School

The committee’s responsibilities include:

• Ensuring Loyola’s Jesuit Catholic identity remains central to the school’s way of proceeding.
• Assessing the potential impact of government policy and regulatory changes.
• Exploring strategic considerations that support Loyola’s long-term mission, sustainability, and stability.

The purpose of the committee is not to signal imminent change or reach predetermined conclusions, but to ensure the Board is fully informed, attentive to potential risks, and well positioned to recognize both challenges and opportunities, always keeping Loyola’s Jesuit Catholic mission and distinctive approach to education at the forefront.

The Strategic Assessment and Planning Committee held its first meeting on February 10, 2026, electing Anthony Broccolini as Chair. As this work progresses, the Board of Governors remains committed to open and thoughtful communication with the Loyola community. While the committee is still in its early stages, updates will be shared at appropriate milestones to ensure clarity and transparency. Loyola’s leadership will approach this process with careful discernment, guided by our Jesuit mission and a deep responsibility to the students, families, faculty, staff, and alumni we serve. Our commitment to forming young men and women for and with others will continue to guide our path forward, as it has throughout our 130-year history.
