With over 600 families having visited Loyola High School’s Open House on Saturday, September 17, the school leadership team is proud to continue moving forward towards its first co-ed classes for the 2023-24 academic year, with applications still being accepted until September 26. This tremendous turnout vastly exceeds the school’s objectives and nearly doubles the attendance from the West End school’s pre-pandemic Open House event in 2019.
“Experiencing first-hand the high level of interest in the new co-ed program from across Greater Montreal is a compelling vote of confidence for the future of Loyola and those new students who will be joining our community,” says J.P. Mancini, Loyola’s Vice-Principal of Mission and Formation who was on hand to greet families at the beginning of each guided tour on Saturday. “We are proud to have welcomed so many young men and women through our doors on Saturday, and are excited that the launch of co-education has struck such a positive chord.”
For those who couldn’t attend Saturday’s Open House in person, a new video presentation is available below:
“For generations, we have produced graduates representing people of all faiths, beliefs and traditions, and who model the Jesuit, Catholic ideal of being men and women for others,” says Marcelle DeFreitas, Loyola’s President. “Seeing the tremendous response from the wider community has been very reassuring for the entire Loyola team, as we enthusiastically look forward to bringing that proven educational approach to the next generation of Loyola students, regardless of their gender.”
Registration Deadline for 2023-2024
Registration numbers are also exceeding objectives, with over one third of new applicants at this time being young women. Loyola families, most familiar with the school, took advantage of an early registration process with 40% of acceptances being young women The registration period for 2023-24 for all applicants currently enrolled in Grade 6 is rapidly coming to a close, with only a few days left before the September 26 deadline. Once their applications are submitted, families will receive more information about Loyola’s Parent Information Session on September 28 and an Interview Day for applicants on October 15. There is no entrance exam requirement for applicants. With limited places available for Secondary 1, it is important to act quickly.
While Loyola is a Jesuit, Catholic school, it welcomes applicants of other faiths. Please note, however, that except for certain exceptions, students require a Certificate of Eligibility for English Language Education to attend Loyola.
